A Life in Black and White

am not your usual lady in the neighbourhood. i could be fun-loving and ambitions blazing, yet chilling with a good book in hand. loves audrey hepburn movies, lemon-lime-&-bitters, vintage anything and furniture. am not one effortlessly impressed. i see my goals, my dreams and the enjoyment would lie not merely in the success at the end of the road but in this journey of life. livin` it, lovin` it, keepin` it real. i travel alone, i travel light, in my 20`s - la vie est belle!

A let-down

Long queue + lack of seats = a badly organised event

Singapore Fashion Festival

Fashion week is here! Haven't talked much about it, this year is a tad more laid back I feel, just went for the G2 show yesterday with GA...I love their dresses and one particular clutch bag. Might pop by for a look with my store value card!

Next, lined up today is the Robinsons show - ah there's my invite (looking out for the brand Coast)! Tent at Ngee Ann City.

More later!

can i heave a sigh...

It's been a long LONG...anyway, my day kicked off with a meeting at 8am in the morning. I was starving and the meeting was quite lengthy. That passed and I had a slow morning, followed by a long lunch break as I sneaked off to Suntec to run my errands. Finally, picked up the thumbdrive from Carrefour (yes, they do sell such stuff) and used up my Met voucher. Look at the print I picked up! By Paul Klee (German, 1879–1940) Temple Garden, 1920Watercolor on paperPoster size, 24 in. x 28 in.(c)1996 Artists Rights Society (ARS), New York/VG BILD-KUNST. And the pearl earrings with the remaining part of the voucher! Lovely :)

My yogilates class at the CC this evening turned out not quite what I'd expected...okay, granted I dropped my towel on the way to the studio (NOT a good start) and then without my trusty towel, I couldn't keep my yoga poses up! Have to improve the next time around and also train up for my third JP Morgan run!

It's friday tomorrow, and it's the first time I wouldn't be able to see R on a weekend when I'm in Singapore. I've just gotta let time pass...

I've Learned

I've learned - that you cannot make someone love you. All you can do is be someone who can be loved. The rest is up to them.
I've learned - that no matter how much I care, some people just don't care back.
I've learned - that it takes years to build up trust, and only seconds to destroy it.
I've learned - that it's not what you have in your life but who you have in your life that counts.
I've learned - that you shouldn't compare yourself to the best others can do but to the best you can do.
I've learned - that it's not what happens to people that's important. It's what they do about it.
I've learned - that you can do something in an instant that will give you heartache for life.
I've learned - that you can keep going long after you think you can't.
I've learned - that we are responsible for what we do, no matter how we feel.
I've learned - that regardless of how hot and steamy a relationship is at first, the passion fades and there had better be something else to take its place.
I've learned - that learning to forgive takes practice.
I've learned - that there are people who love you dearly, but just don't know how to show it.
I've learned - that sometimes when I'm angry I have the right to be angry, but that doesn't give me the right to be cruel.
I've learned - that just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to, doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have.
I've learned - that it isn't always enough to be forgiven by others. Sometimes you have to learn to forgive yourself.
I've learned - that no matter how bad your heart is broken, the world doesn't stop for your grief.
I've learned - that our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but we are responsible for who we become.
And I've learned -that our legs are for us to move forward bravely and carry on with our lives.

TGIF

Just got back from dinner with Lavender A :) When we started counting, gosh, it's been 6 months since we last met...both still very similar in tastes etc...and dinner wasn't complete without a walk around the mall, which ended up in us popping by the crazy BYSI store, and me picking up a few more pieces! (no more, no more, no more) I LOVE the purple! Gorgeous, isn't it?

It's the start of a week

R's finally packed and left for Jakarta...This arrangement certainly isn't easy on us both and sometimes I wonder how long it will all take for R to be back for a much longer period of time. Oh well.

Good news is that our place has been featured in a magazine - the February edition of Home Style...

Anyway, I just got back home from work...it's the second half-day annual leave that I had to take since the year started. And before I begin on what an utter waste of annual leave this is, my computer, hopefully won't be coughing up any more trouble from now on! The first half-day I had to take saw the replacement of my RAM and now the motherboard.

An hour to go, before I shall make my way down to NYP to talk to the staff...hoping for the best!

Four Seasons

Just got back from CN's wedding at The Four Seasons. The dinner was interesting with a twist of different photography being displayed, as well as the untying of a love knot ribbon upon entrance into the ballroom....

I love the whole chain of The Four Seasons, and staying at the hotel will still be pure luxury at the top of my list :)

a woman can never have enough...

Our weekend was a different one as compared to the rest we've been having to date...we had some time to ourselvcs and we caught the films we wanted to watch. Our Japanese dinner was simple but nice and I was lured by a tagline posted on the BYSI shop - "I was waiting to clear my wardrobe to make space for the 70% BYSI sale." :) A 15-min quick stop turned out to be more fruitful than I'd imagined and I ended up picking up 6 pieces for S$72. 3 skirts - 1 brown, 1 mini one in black and 1 white. 1 black tunic top with beadings (which I'm thinking of wearing with my new leggings), 1 white top, and 1 black zip dress maybe for work...

300 was a good movie, while for Music and Lyrics, besides the songs, everything else was average to me...Hugh Grant has indeed aged. Like what SC said, I couldn't help but look at his wrinkles too...

Going...going...gone!

I sold the gown for S$400 and oddly enough, when it changed hands, I felt a tugging feeling to see it go...maybe looking at it and flipping through our albums reminded me of how our day went, and all the beautiful memories - v nostalgic.
Saw this beautiful shirt at Raoul over during lunchtime today...can't get it off my mind somehow despite lusting over a Chanel and the much coveted Prada and Miu Miu...

The Quake

Haven't had such big news to hit Singapore in a while!

Click on the picture to get the whole writeup...Our building's management was quite poor. We started receiving calls from friends in surrounding banks as well as from family members all around, and by which, after disseminating the information we had all made a run for it to the lifts, and this was before the building management made a public announcement for everyone to evacuate. Now, that makes for some poor contingency planning which we have to look into, huh?

my week in view

I had a girly evening out on my own today and it was kinda refreshing. Personal time to clear the mind and contemplate on what lies ahead. With my nails all done up I feel relaxed and I've finally got my lashes permed :)

And when I thought the political situation in Bangkok might be worrying enough to prevent my trip, looks like I might still manage to get the massage I want anyhows.

I have a movie night lined up tomorrow with SC and I can't wait :)

I'm off to bed!

Bitten

There's a common saying which goes, "love all but trust a few". One would think one an expert after so many years of being bitten at all sides. I suppose there are still times when life can get worse than what it already is. Isn't it scary how the human heart and mind can be so devious, so deceiving, so self-centred and yet still so sympathetically innocent all at once? Unbelievably unimaginable isn't it? The face and mind of an angel with the heart of the devil. And rose-tinted lenses have to come off. Really. Innocence is clearly not what it seems.

I guess it hurts the most when it happens at the point when you least expect it all? Guess every day offers a new lesson for everyone, no matter how deep.

I don't know yet, but who knows, perhaps my trip up to Bangkok might not materialise afterall.
