A Life in Black and White

Relaxing moonlit night

Joined my family for a bout of shopping at Vivocity (no, I didn't buy anything! But Jo bought a beautiful green dress and the long leather wallet a couple of us were eye-ing from the M)phosis sale, and a cute pair of shoes from Topshop, plus a pair of jeans from Forever 21!). Then we had dinner at Coastes by Siloso Beach at Sentosa, finally followed by drinks at Cafe Del Mar... :)

Time to finish up my "Happy Feet" DVD before turning in. It's back to work tomorrow...

I had lunch with dearest Durrow gal at Sakae Sushi...It was light, brief but well spent...

Then, after, I met up with GW and EY and we three ladies spent the whole day walking around town - and there were so many people!! Dinner was a nice affair at Corduroy & Finch...we had the tenderloin steaks, which were pretty good :)

Wishing upon a star

The Great Singapore Sale (GSS) began last night. And even before the GSS has commenced, I have already spent so much at the GG<5 and M)phosis sales which have so cleverly planned to start before the GSS. On Thursday, R and I made our way down to the L'oreal Sale at Winsland House. We should have gone on Day 1 with GA, instead of Day 2 and final day on Thursday when most of the items were already totally wiped out. The queues on both days were looong, and the door people were a bit bitchy, and squeezing through the counters would have meant that I might have lost weight haha...finally R bought re-supplies of our skincare...

The M)phosis sale (which always reminds me of Felle - coz we used to always update each other about it years back) was pretty good as always with their stock being slashed between 50% ~ 70%. And I picked up a few nice pieces at unbelieveable prices!

I am determined to stop spending money for the next few months leading up to July...because this is what I got in my mail last night :(

Can I just say, I especially always cringe whenever I read the phrase at the end of the assessment - "Thank you for your contribution towards nation building"...

Boogie with the night

Went to watch Jo's dance performance at the NAFA Lee Foundation Theatre tonight - and it was amazing :) It was a cleverly cheorographed assortment of ballet, retro dance, classics, the 60-s, as well as funk. The costumes, lightings, everything was perfect. I must say I was impressed! And there wasn't even an intermission. My personal favs were the cabaret dance and the finale.

Pity I couldn't take any photos...But I think the kids were professional enough to even sell public tickets for a dance at the Esplanade. :)

Menotti

Had dinner with my RG ladies (SC and Yappy) at Menotti, Raffles City. Finally, I got to try the famous crab linguine the ladies have been raving about :) Shredded crabmeat, with linguine in a creamy tomato-based sauce - Yum! It's slightly spicy and peppery but lovely and extremely fragrant! After dinner, I had the chocolate mousse cake with a raspberry sauce centre topped with a macaroon. Never had anything like it! Apparently a lot of their other sweets are mouth-wateringly to-die-for too...like their tiramisu etc...I shan't go on!

I'm happy. Yes, tired but happy.

...and I have to hit the gym starting next week. GW has inspired me to lose weight :)

High Performance

GW and I had a ball of a time at Holland V - we were both quite badly sunburnt (actually I think I'm in a worse state - I look somewhat like a lobster now) - but we still had fun anyways :)

I guess we didn't expect it to be sucha hot and sunny day without much shade...but the human traffic was pretty good and I managed to haul back a decent S$100+ after less off the store rental of S$10 per person, and GW managed to haul back an even bigger amount at S$200+ after less off the store rental of S$10 per person :)

More space for new clothes! (yes, a woman can never have enough clothes, bags, shoes...) :)

Also, time spent with GW is good...I can't imagine how I've just gotten back in touch with her after 15 years and she'll be off to Dubai to work in a month...and then she texted me this today, "guys come and go, but friends are forever to keep. So you must keep in touch with me ok!" - I am touched. :)

"Oh, the comfort, the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person; having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but to pour them all out, just as they are, chaff and grain together, knowing that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and then, with a breath of kindness, blow the rest away." - George Eliot

It's the weekend - tomorrow!

Just caught up with RH over dinner and we watched Nicholas Cage's Next - Jessica Biel is really quite lovely...plot was good but the ending could definitely be improved on. Or maybe it's just me. Anyway, a man who always sees 2 minutes ahead - interesting concept :)

I have to start digging out clothes for my garage sale stall on Sunday! And, I'm finally feeling better!

Hors de prix

Watched the movie Priceless starring Audrey Tautou with GW and I LOVE it! :) What's not to love? A romantic storyline - total fairy-tale with fabulously gorgeous clothes - magnificent!

Jean, a shy waiter working in a grand hotel, is mistaken for a young millionaire by beautiful, scheming adventuress Irene (played by Audrey T). When she discovers his lowly status, Irene beats a quick retreat. But love struck Jean has no intention of letting her escape, and pursues her to the Cote d'Azur. Quickly running out of money, he adopts his beloved's lifestyle, setting himself up as a gigolo and moving into a magnificent luxury hotel. Irene at last accepts this new Jean. She starts to give him advice, she grows closer and closer to him, not realising that love is working its subtle magic on her too.

The Grill Hillcrest @ Greenwood Avenue

We checked out The Grill at Hillcrest (formerly Coq n Bull) on Sunday with R's family for Mother's Day. Excellent says it all! Service was impeccable, and food was amazing (at reasonable prices). I had the daily special of lamb leg, which was a generous portion served with mashed potato and roasted veges. It was yum! :) Tender and just beautiful.

The rest of the family had cod, pasta, prime beef, seafood, beef stew and dory. We had a share of appetizers of king seared scallops and portobello mushrooms stuffed with escargots (a must try!!).

And to top it off, roasted bananas with ice-creams to end the fantastic meal!

Afterall, it's Chef Lee from the former The Canteen by the Les Amis Group at the helm of the grill...Should check it out sometime! Just be sure to drive!

The flu bug has hit me for more than a week! Yes, it struck me so secretly after the JP morgan run (which incidently became my first ever hour-long walk!) :( Only good thing, is my exam is finally over...

I've officially lost my voice, and I feel terrible to top it off...

Anyways, since I last left off...I went to Domvs at Sheraton Towers for Elle's Narciso Rodriguez Workshop last Saturday only to leave before it all began all because of my horrible cough! Domvs had a new nice interior - cosy and classic (I love their red chairs!), would have to head back to try the food another time!

Well, moving onto a happier note, R has so sweetly paid for some goodies from the Raoul sale...

To make myself feel better, here are some beautiful things I love...lovely interiors, and pieces from Kate Moss' delectable Top Shop range - which SC and I will be checking out once it hits the shops this week!

Ciao! Have a magical weekend :)
