A Life in Black and White

am not your usual lady in the neighbourhood. i could be fun-loving and ambitions blazing, yet chilling with a good book in hand. loves audrey hepburn movies, lemon-lime-&-bitters, vintage anything and furniture. am not one effortlessly impressed. i see my goals, my dreams and the enjoyment would lie not merely in the success at the end of the road but in this journey of life. livin` it, lovin` it, keepin` it real. i travel alone, i travel light, in my 20`s - la vie est belle!

Boo!!!! Trick or treat?? :)

Busy busy week. Pulled out of the bank. Hmm...the thought of being unassigned for the coming 2 weeks is slightly disturbing I must admit...have to go bug the administrator...fill me up!! ;)

Dai is getting married. I'm so happy for you man! :) You're really a wonderful guy, and I wish you happiness always...but of course...I'd love to fly down next dec! Can I just please say, your manager is extremely gross!!! Talk bout job hazards, prostitution and the lot...eeeww! Haha, even Phil was cringing!!!! lol...plus, yep, we both have to cut down the kilos...thanks for the kind reminder - "gawd, you were so slim before!" *am way motivated now!!* Yea, speaking of which, went for Dance class the other day. Wow, the svelte bodies were seriously dripping with sweat, all in all it was really quite fun...I had a good laugh at myself though! haha...the rest were pro!

Let's see...my samedi...what goes? Slept lot more than usual, did a shopping stint with mom, I picked up quite a few tops, think one or two of which I might just consider wearing for the firm's upcoming D & D @ the Ritz. ;) The theme is Survivor! Hmm...shall ask Blogerator...lol! Had my rambutan freeze at Coffee Club...*it's to die for* :b Orchard was so human jammed it was quite intimidating. Anyhows, still made my way to Cali for my combat class!

Moving along...Special note of thanks to HT and CY. Thanks guys. HT - for all these years (7..8? We're oldies man! hahaha! diving lessons rem!) and you've seen all the shit I've gone through...CY - thanks for your insight. Heaps and heaps of appreciation! :)

Further note of thanks to Pinkies. Babe, you're one in a million! Rain or shine, you've never once failed to be there for me. *hugs* Your email warmed my heart...especially how you always say "...but that's what friends are for!"

And...DK - glad we spoke...life's full of surprises non? :) Yep, we're all growing with each passing day. Truly, one time whereby I end up eating my words. :) Nonetheless, it's all good!

Hey hey, it's Halloween weekend! Without much thinking, it's november...yep, and special people flying back in december soon enough...can't wait! :)

Before signing off...Nov 2nd...More Bush saga...

Ooh, and before I forget...thanks PenGuin for the late night strolls...how long has it been? more than a decade for sure! ;)

It's a "count my blessings" entry this time around...
Happy Halloween everyone! xoxoxoxo...Have tons of fun! Haha...Pass the bottle! :) Don't forget the candies for the kids! Ta

once again...tantalising...come again? hahaha

My mid-week to date has been nothing short of sensational. ;) *ah, what's new? lol!*

Interesting lunch, fascinating dinner...work? Lovely!!! Loving every minute... :)

People at work are so very nice!...and the fun level is going up with each passing day *wink*...had one of the best meepok at raffles place today, and was good of them to offer me one of the durian puffs they bought. ;) Though it now means a lot more jogging and gym classes for me! Haha...I've got more company now too, what with my new colleagues all being quite into the whole regime, esp the guys...lol

Just have to pop by the doctor for another round...yea silly stubborn flu bug is still alive and kicking...and believe me when I say my lagging cough's not helping either!

I hardly watch TV. Really. One tiny confession though. I watch America's Next Top Model. Religiously. Never missing a single episode. Not one. How very predictable of moi yeah? Haha! Last night? Ooh, the claws came out...catfight!

Tweaking the strings of destiny...hahaha...we'll see what goes...

pitter patter butterflies out of the fog...

Gosh! I just got up from my 4 hour nap...it's the medication I tell you...drowsy but effective...hahaha! Well, what can I say? I do need the rest...

Received an unexpected call from a long-time old Jap friend Taketani in the middle of the night 2 days ago...He's back from Osaka, 2 weeks here, before routing to Shenzhen...should surely arrange to meet up! :)

And oh...here, wait for it! I saw the most intense eyes and coy smile yesterday!!!!! *wink* Haha! The kind of look which just smothers, setting hearts aflutter! ;b Yes, and we spoke...hahaha, more like I instinctively made conversation after the ice was broken...Plus, all of plans for upcoming weekends were thrown around...drinks...new asia...tanjong pagar...paulaner brahaus...*tongue in cheek* Hush hush...Didn't think much of it `till now...hahahaha! More updates when I bump into 'that someone' again! lol...comment excitant!!! ;)

"The great essentials of happiness are: something to do, something to love, and something to hope for." - My dearest little piece of haven :) Good luck for exams!

The "Bull" and the "Bear" - the markets what else? :)

My flu is so horrid it's not funny. Finally popped by the company doctor for my much needed medical consultation. Rest, rest, rest...Mind is up and running but body is seriously weak...bummer!

Headline news this week...take a look...

Insider trading - I was slightly shocked. Warning: we all have to watch the stringent rules! Moving along, Private Banking recruitment...good sign huh!

Everybody's lunch topic...yea the CBD was abuzz with The Bull Run organised by the SGX. Would have really loved to participate, but was good in a way that I didn't sign up way before 'coz I'm really not in the best of health now. A colleague commented on the timing of our rec club's AGM held tonight at China Jump...how can the staff possibly make it for the Bull run? Hmm...our 2 rival firms were generous sponsors and they sent teams...Oh well, my dad ran *yep, you read that right* - his company sent a contingent of 30+ employees, amazing. And if I didn't get it wrong, my dad helped lead the staff...

End of the run at the Padang...

Memorabilia, and goody bag...*I'm keeping the bag! Perfect size for my documents!* :) Quite unbelievable what they squeeze into the package! Eau de minerale, peanuts (?), chocolate biscuits, hand towel, Fitness First vouchers *they're mine! lol*, Business Times' post-it tags, plus whole stack of other vouchers...interesting...

Won't be missing the next run if I can help it! :)

Dinner tonight...Dad's bday... ;) had the best cold crabs ever! Ha...

Alrighty...Nite! Work tomorrow...

Ballet Under The Stars

I was très impressed with the performance. Every time I watch it, it does seem to get better :) Haha! Perhaps this time around was a lot better with the company too...went with my sis and her friend, and least they were people who appreciate dance! lol...last time I went, err hmm...a "certain someone" fell asleep on me...leaves much to be desired huh! Hahaha...Well, we were there early evening, loaded with food *waayy too much!* and later on my bro actually arrived with his NS group...we all enjoyed it immensely...nice!

Friday afternoon, did lunch with RH after my jog...hahaha...our brief chat...hope I didn't scare you RH! lol!

Yep...I'm up early again! 2 more sleeps to work proper! :) Hmm...my CPA stuff is still on hold...have to settle it fast! Round of exams coming up in May...

Alrighty, gona hit the gym for classes today. Pilates and Body Combat. Ciao! Good weekend guys! ;)

vendredi, octobre 15, 2004

yeha...it's friday...

Was supa dupa busy yesterday. Sister just finished her exams, and we were out all day with mom. Nice though :) Spent the whole night before talking and catching up...us sistas...thinking back, I now know why she felt the way she did whenever I had to leave for Melbourne...

Waited around while she had her game...bowling time :)

Caught the movie she wanted to watch. Korean is not really my kinda thing I must confess, but "Mr Cool Guy" had quite a few ridiculously ticklish scenes...hahaha! I can't move on from the zebra thing...never mind...lol!

Dinner at the club. Almost couldn't keep myself from nodding off! Forty winks! Haha! *fatigue beaucoup*

Oh yea...quiz picked up from CJYR's blog :) Red aura...mmm...that's moi!

On a heavier note...S'pore celeb drug bust up...hmm and I thought dope was so yesterday...besides, publicity aside - and undesirable news at that, it's sooo not worth it man!

waiting to exhale

I'm sitting here facing my computer screen with Jostein Gaarder's book opened up to page 19 positioned in front of me. If my two cents' worth is anything to go by, it's truly a good read about existence and life. Maya...

Caught another episode of "America's Next Top Model: Season 2" last night. I have 3 raves!
1) Nigel Barker - ooh what a hunk! haha!
2) Jay is wonderful - he's got a good eye!
3) I luurve April!!! But *WARNING! Spoiler ahead!!!* (lol! don't click on the link if you don't wana know...) ...we all know who will win! Well, I do! And I guess it was quite apparent from day one uh-huh...

Couldn't resist! April's portfolio - Jay and Nigel are genuises!

And...here's the best face...agreed...hard to come by :) Just look at her bone structures!

Got a call from ShaC out of the blue! :) It's nice especially it's been eons since we last caught up! Complaints bout Cocoalatte...hmm...all rap and hardly a place with something to dance to *haven't been there myself*...well, good to hear ShaC is finally up and about...and woah! The workload! Hustle and bustle of Raffles Place...Haha! I can just smell the familiarity...My turn soon...

Watched "Vanity Fair" today. It's witty, charming, brilliant! The Indian stuff, on the other hand, really brought out peals of laughter from the audience. Hahahaha...funny! Nevertheless, the movie was a tad long...yet still enjoyable mainly due to Rebecca's vast intelligence, unparalleled in that time and age. ;) Whooo...James Purefoy is a looker!

Yes, my X-ray this morning...took all of 2 minutes...then popped into California next door for my combat class...`twas all good :) I have to say though, that taking a shower at California does feel different now that I've heard all those disgusting stories about shower cremes and all from CYJR *only in the men's showers I hope!* - ewwww!...Just a mindless observation, Orchard Road on weekday afternoons...I see tons of students (JC cohorts particularly) everywhere! Remarkable how I see so many more RJ students hanging about almost everywhere along the Orchard stretch than CJ students. haha...like I said, merely one of those extraordinarily crappy comments that add spice to life perhaps =b ...beau jour!

The new Carlsberg ad, and the new Guiness ad to rival...Carlsberg - yet another catchy tune - Celebrate tonight!....Guinness - Someone's gotta do it...why not you? *ahhh* :)

More job-related books to cover (after Maya)...and Pinkies' Hen night planning too! ;) Ta.

1 week to go!

My hair's choppy now! Hahaha!

Had coffee with mom...look at the pastries! *yum* ;)

Rushed down to DT to sign the papers...then headed to SGX centre for my medical checkup...they were so thorough! All in all, that took close to 2 hours! I must confess that when they took my weight I nearly DIED!!! Okay guys...no more junk for me!!! I am SOOO gonna lose every single kilo I've gained...hopefully if I can get out at X'mas, whoever meets me will see! :) GAWD! I'm still in shock...hmm...

It's official! I'm finally starting work in a week! I wonder how my team's gonna be like...seems to me that there're more males in DT than back at KP...interesting!

Have to make another trip down to Orchard to get my X-ray done tomorrow...will be hitting the gym too...might throw in a swim perhaps? ;)

now, where were we?

It's amazing where a 3-week, or rather close to a month's, break can take anyone...In this time, I've managed to catch up with so many more old friends than I thought I ever could. Also, I've accomplished so much more than I thought I would...I'm not complaining now...Coz I'm way satisfied!

Really nice to see where life's taken all of us. ALMOST a quarter of a century now for most of us huh. Haha...Many of us now independent working professionals in the corporate world scattered around different parts of the globe. Others still acquiring knowledge and further studies...It's only today when a dear friend commented, "now where's that JC gal we all knew?..." that it hit me, how much we've all achieved in these 20-odd years...all of us true blue members of society...some are married, others in serious relationships, and of course many still bidding their time...haha! where art the good old days of frivolous dates? Scandalous! *wink* And, reading through the many months I'd missed with so many old friends, it just brings smiles to my face, as well as the occasional giggle and uncontrolled burst of laughter :) I guess that's the best bit about it all. The best part in relation to friendships and beyond. The undescribeably amazing bond that only the 2 involved can appreciate. This is what means the most to me. There's really no actual need in having to talk everyday, exchanging whimsical words which are simply superficial. Truly, it's in the quality and not the quantity. In trying moments, that's when we will all see our treasured ones being there, wherever they may be, be it a phonecall, an email, I'm sure all you guys will agree, it's heart-warming :) Additionally, it's been shown and proven time and again *myself included* that it, like everything else, is not that all impossible. That despite all that distance, all that missed time, you can still feel so close to someone, and possibly even closer than some whom you might see on a daily basis. *reflective* Plus, kudos to THE INTERNET for all these brilliant reunions! :)

I'm getting my hair cut tomorrow *gasp!* hahahahaha!

Okie dok, my eyelids are getting heavy...my nightcap's on...I'm turning in... ;)

"u take the glass, pass me the bottle!"

Rise and Shine! Just got back from my morning jog...I feel sooo very refreshed that's how I feel! Weight loss aside, I lurveee that wonderful feeling of adrenalin and happy endorphins rushing through me for the rest of the day...*woohoo!* :)

Caught more of the US Presidential Debate recast...Hmm, Kerry said, "hope is what keeps us going..." Senator Bush? I rest my case. Haha!

Down Under? Gosh...John Howard won. Again. Surprises me how all the aussies keep saying one thing, perhaps, the East Timor situation helped!

Wassup for the rest of my lovely sunday? Reading...more reading...*I'm a no-lifer!* lol!

Maybe an evening jog? Hmm...

Had plans saturday night, but had to cancel coz I felt so tired! ST was upset...sigh...I didn't mean it that way, but I think it was a lousy day for ST to boot...I apologised profusely. Sorry again ST! Will try make it up I promise!

Finally, my x'mas gift shopping - all done! Why the hurry? No hurry, just the anticipation of being sooo busy at work, and I'm definitely not gonna rush and squeeze with the horrendous crowds at the last minute! *no freakin` way man* Haha...

Alrighty...everyone...hope y'all had a good one over the weekend! :)

Wink-a-blink

Hmm...wonder why things always become so clear and apparent to me when I least expect them? I guess it's a good thing in a way, better now than never. But, it's hardly something to smile about when people disappoint you yet again right? Haha...I never listen to what others have to say. I believe in my own judgment that's why. However, when I see it for myself finally, that's my limit. Point of no return.

Oh well. I always take it with a pinch of salt. The best bit about regrets? I have none :)

"I take life as a challenge and I try to make the most out of it (not in terms of material stuff) I am happy that at least I have tried my best and also, that I make my family or frens happy and I am contented that people do care, but life is not a bed of roses that's why I like it, that's why it's good. The flaws only make it better" - couldn't have said it better myself. I've found my piece of haven :) YOU..my piece of haven..I'm growing to become more like you each day - hahaha! Sometimes you have too much Testosterone around you, just wana shut it all out right? You're not terrible, I'm a bitchy one myself :) *Brazil ya..i'm waiting..*

Okay...I'm off! Dinner with ST...then trottling to Happy with the co! ;)

Time-out

What allures me?
1) GOOD conversation - 2-way street
2) Intellect
3) Drive, Focus, Ambition

Received an unexpected call last night from AS. It's been all so long, could hear the unfamiliarity in his voice. Let's not go there.

My new firm...I lurveee the deco! Haha! Take a peek...

My future home will be simplistic, chic, minimalistic, filled with love and warmth...haha...

Je suis très heureux!!!

I got it!!!!!!!! Hip hip hooray!!!! Had an inkling I would...but still supa dupa elated though! Haha!

They were so so so nice! Specially arranged another interview with the GFS sector for me...really...so very very nice! Had a good informative chat with the SM, and I've got what I've wanted. Looking at the SM, she really inspires me...that's what I want and more...Nothing in life falls from the skies. Every step up is planned and pre-planned from all angles. Gonna get my Chartered Acc status in 2 years, subsequently, my Chartered Fin Alyst status by 29.

Sent out a thank you email. *how could I not?* Simply had to! :)

The Long-Awaited One

I HATE the wait. Haha...interviews can come in so many shapes and forms. Exciting and challenging no doubt, yet nerve-wrecking in a way...call me insane, but I do enjoy the preparations leading up to one...or two...or even many more :) Maybe if it's a job one really hungers for, everything just feels right.

I had a small panel of 2 this time around. I'd hate to sound arrogant, but nothing really shook me I guess since I was more than prepared :) I felt comfortable, alert, cheery, confident. Not overly so, but just with a slight dash of confidence. It's really true, how when you walk out of the room, you can honestly gauge how well you've done for yourself. Reckon it was alright, and I've still got my fingers crossed no matter! Haha! I'm glad I spoke up like I wanted to...Like I always would... *wink*

Again, I HATE the wait. We'll see! :)

Nothing like a tequila sunrise...

Here it is... here I am...to be honest, I'd previously had a blog which I kept for almost close to a year...and when the time was up, when I'd felt that the sole purpose had been attained..."when it's time to go, it's time to go" *I feel free* :)

Thing bout me is, I never look back. I don't live in the past. When it's gone, I move on. Some call me flighty, some call me extreme...Doesn't bother me one bit. This is moi. What you see is what you get. I never believe in picking up from where things were left off. If ever, I'd start all over again from where the present point would be to commence anything. And, I'd decide when I come to that point, or rather, when that moment stumbles onto my life.

Only 5 important things in my life now:
1) My career path
2) Proper planning
3) Family ties
4) Maintaining and enriching exisiting friendships
5) My dreams, my goals, personal success

Time does get utilised better when I'm alone and not distracted. That's one of the plus points of not being with someone 24 / 7. I get MY time to do what I want. And that is a GOOD thing. Everybody needs to focus on their own shit.
